Regional Mud in your Eye!
10 months have passed since the Fairbanks Panthers last trip to Pickerington North. On Oct. 30th, 2021 Fairbanks had 2 entrants, So. Rachael Hoover and Fr. Zeke Gingrich, to the OHSAA Regional 11 D3 Cross Country Championships. It was a mudfest! As the runners wiped the mud from their faces Coach Van Winkle saw the grit left in their teeth!
“You could see not just in Rachael and Zeke but the whole team, that came to support them that day, a desire to be out on the course slinging mud pies with thier spikes. It was mess. It took all of Rachael’s strength to qualify for the state meet and Zeke, from the start gun, could’t get into race position, the mud was just to much for him. We learned a lot from that experience and we want to improve on that by getting back to that regional course, retracing our steps and setting new goals.”
The Panthers are set to do just that this weekend, August 27th, as they make a return trip to Pickerington North High School for the XC Classic.
