Another week, another fair!
Kiddo was back in the fair ring again just like many of you!
Vivi’s Sister’s were along for the peewee calf Drive too.
“Drive”
I use to run non-stop across my family’s dairy farm growing up. Everywhere, running, running, running and when I would get tired I’d find my Dad working ground with the tractor, climb in the cab and fall asleep.
My older brothers tried to teach me to ride a bike but I wouldn’t. Instead I would yell at my brothers to race me, them on their bikes and me, running with my hands on the handle bars.
I lost touch with running across my primary and secondary years of education but by the end of college running found me again.
A couple marathons and a 1st year Cross Country coach in 2007 at FHS, running, running, running and I were back together.
Running… Running…. Running and Running….. And when I’d get tired I’d go find my Dad and he’d say “did ya get the cows milked?”.
In 2008, on my Dad’s passing bed, he sold the cows to me for $1.00 and said “give me that dollar son….. Now , run with it!”
It was just an old run down dairy farm, couple cows and some broken equipment…….and….. a young boy, running it!
“Pull out that old memory and think of me and smile and say”!
That’s the “Drive”! To have seen, to have a vision, and to plan for what’s next.
What’s next is August 1, the first day of practice. We have got a lot to go over when we start so look forward to the following:
Driving to 8am Practices
A fundraising Drive with Snap! Raise
Request for Voluteers to Drive and Chaperones for The Spartan Invitational…. 7 weeks to go….. September 15 & 16th.
Also Team Bio’s, Team Pictures and Tie Dye Shirts!!
There are things from my childhood that I always want to share with my kids, the farm, the cows and running, running, running. It’s been a long Drive to here and for sure it’s not over yet. So let’s enjoy this ride and make some memories running, running, running.
Look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
