Fairbanks MS CC runner Ava Lahmers raced the best runners in the state at Dublin Jerome High School for the Ohio Middle School CC Championships. As the gun sounded and runners took out on to the 2 mile course history was being made or possibly repeated.
Flash back 1 year prior and a young 8th grade grasshopper, Mara Vicari, toed the same startline and POW!!! A shot into the sky and runners sprint onto the course.
As Ava and Mara both weaved around corners and up and down hills they had a ghostly over lay, mirroring the other as only can be imagined. Who would win? The final sprint to the line and……..

Now just days from the OHSAA CC State Championships Mara Vicari preps herself to take on the best in the state again as a Freshman phenom after a 14th place qualifying performance at the Region 11 Championships in a time of 20:11.17.
Oh, if we could only flash forward……….
