Stack Run # 2
August 27 & 28
Work Out: Complete 40miles in 12hrs
Goal:
25miles on Aug. 27 (Evening Run)
15miles on Aug. 28 (Morning Run)
If this goes well then proceed to the next Stack Run!
Results:
I survived another Stack Run! We, My Crew and Me, focused on aid stations to really break up this run. So for every aid station on the Canal Corridor 100 miler map across the first 50 miles, we made it a point stop at those mileage points.
Notes:
Time spent running = 5hrs 32 minutes
Total time including aid stations = 8hrs 14 minutes
Total time from beginning of Aug. 27 - Aug. 28 = 18hrs 22minutes
Total Distance = 40 miles
The Crew: Aug. 27
Emily, Vivienne and Me.
Aug. 28
Things to work on….
The last 3 miles of these runs was brutal. My heart rate was moving up from a range of 140-150 to mid-160’s. I really think this is a couple of factors.
Fuel or Energy, I think I was bonking and my body was taking my heart rate up and trying to shut me down.
Hydration, Hydration, Hydration - This was a big factor on Sunday morning as the morning temperatures started to rise. I began Sunday morning feeling really good and running some very fast mile splits, almost to good and paid for it late.
Focus on Stack Run 3:
Race plan practice run:
Use aid stations again.
Take timed notes per aid station, how long am I staying in an aid station….
Add in high energy, easy to consume running products.
Take notes on what foods are working!
Add in a running belt.
Take notes on gear change outs i.e. socks, shoes, watch ect….
Have a hydration plan broken down to ounces, body weight and weather temps.
Conclusion:
I did not die, again. Out of this Stack Run I know I can run 50 miles. That will get me to my B. Goal to complete 50 miles of the CC 100miler. That is going to be my main focus.
Next Stack Run #3 Race Prep: Sept. 10 (30miles) & Sept. 11 (20miles).
