Tiffin, Ohio. The county seat of Seneca County. The home of Jay Gruden, former head coach of the NFL’s Washington Commanders. And, on Saturday, the host of the Tiffin Invite, one of the region’s premiere high school cross country events: The Tiffin Cross Country Carnival 2022, hosted by Tiffin Columbian High School. The races will be held at Hedges Boyer Park, located at 491 Coe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883. This is a big meet, with a total of 25 races to take place on Saturday, September 10th. The Fairbanks Panthers will be competing in Girls Division 3 Varsity race, set to begin at 9:35 A.M. and the Boys Division 3 A Varsity race set to begin at 11:00 A.M. The Middle School boys will race at 12:45 followed by the Middle School girls at 1:25. The Panthers are hoping to build on the team successes they found at their home Farmbanks XC Invitational on Tuesday. According to head coach Mike Van Winkle, “This meet is always tough, but our kids have some races on their legs now and we should see times start dropping. The atmosphere at the Cross Country Carnival is what this sport is all about, so I’m excited for our first year runners to get to experience it.” The Tiffin Columbian boosters will have a full concession stand offering hamburgers, hot dogs, shredded chicken sandwiches, pizza, and so much more. The bus for the meet leaves at 6:30am from Fairbanks Saturday morning.
