Week 22: Ohio State Cross Country Championships!!
Regional Recap + 52-0-7 + Weekly PR’s
Women’s CC D3 Region 11 Runner-Up!
How close was that?!?! I’ve personally looked at our regional results over, and over and over what feels like 100 times since Saturday. Did we really just do that? Yea we did! I’ve had a log jam on thoughts about it and not really sure what to say. So this recap could seem a little bit like a jumbled thought mess but honestly how else should it feel? We did it! We hit our goals and for the next week we get to embrace the moment and be proud of our team. Take it all in, these moments are never guaranteed from one season to the next, we did it, we are off to the state meet.
Just a couple notes reflecting back on Saturdays race.
The Freshman came up big! Just 5 points separated our team from CSG. Ava and Sadie both ran PR’s and that was the difference.
How important every runner on the team is! I’m not sure I will get over the nervy pre-race feeling and the roll-a-coaster of emotions post race. For a moment we thought we got 7th place, totally shocked! How much did that score change when we realized Mara’s time hadn’t posted yet? We went from 7th to 2nd place in an instant! Every runner matters!
Blood, sweat and tears. Lots of it! Only 7 runners get a chance to run and I want to say that the tears part of splitting the team up from 10 runners to 7 is hard and even harder going from 8 to 7. I’m very proud of our strength and ability as a team to know that our 8 runner can jump right into a race and we are not going to drop off one bit. Also, I can’t say enough about our greater teams ability to understand this role of being either 7 or 8, the tears that go with it but also the strength, fortitude and leadership that is gained from that experience. Elizabeth and Meredith both handled that role in a way that needs to be recognized. You gave this team the opportunity to run with a focus and an edge. Your time, effort and sacrifice will forever be appreciated just the same as the Freshman PR’s, with out it we would not have brought home a Regional Runner Up Trophy. A very heartfelt Thank You!
