Week 7: Fairs , Fairs, Fare......
Season Schedule, Final Surge & Training Logs, Training Groups, Weekly Goals
There is always a fare to pay for Fair Week. I always felt like these weeks left my legs, feeling drained and dead from all the walking around, standing around, cleaning animals, clean stalls, showing and anything and everything else that goes along with the fair. Sometimes the best you can do is to just keep yourself upright and try to get a workout in when you can. Good luck to all that are showing this week and next.
Season schedules
We will be pushing our schedules out on this week on Parent Square and Remind. You’ll want to check these apps to see if you’re getting the push notifications. If you’re not please contact either me or Emily. When you see the season schedule, please look it over, we have a couple events on August 1st and 2nd that you will want to check and make sure that you’ve got availability for. Our first practice will be August 1 and we are going to have a cook out that night at the Baileys. The next morning we’ll have a long run, heads up it’s gonna be a trail run. Check the season schedule for location and time and please let us know if you have conflicts.
Final surge and Training Logs
As of right now, we've got a lot of our runners using Final Surge. We are going to utilize the training log portion of it, especially in the first few weeks of the season. The big point here is that we don't want athletes over training in the first couple weeks and winding up injured. So if you're on final surge and your mileage is not automatically updated through your watch, then please start manually updating your training log so we can see where you're at training wise coming into the first week of August.
Training Groups & New Lead Roles.
Athletes should expect to have training groups starting out in August this year. We've got one of our largest teams in school history and with that there is gonna be the opportunity to have more training groups with the focus on pair up athletes that are closer in their current physical fitness. With these expanded training groups we're gonna have more opportunities for athletes to take the leadership role as captain. There is also the possibility that we could have what would consider a JV team for Cross Country this season.
